these cupcakes were for a summer grad party for siblings (one in high school and one in college, who was the one planning the event) and summery flavors with a subtle inclusion of the party’s theme (black, white, and gold) were requested.
the cupcake liners, along with toothpick grad cap decorations (not pictured) were provided to be used. there are two varieties: the first, specifically requested, is a strawberry cupcake with a strawberry buttercream frosting decorated with white pearls. the second is a coconut rum cupcake with a coconut rum cake and a chocolate rum frosting with gold stars.

for the coconut run cupcakes, i used this recipe from two sugar bugs for the cake, and this recipe from a clean bake for the chocolate rum buttercream, with adjustments to incorporate my addition of rum (the rum i used was bacardi coconut rum).
